The West

Anyone who looks at this blog, or knows me well,
knows that I love pictures of everything
but avoid pictures of myself.
This little selfie is an example of why I avoid pictures of myself.
But I kept texting Courtney to let her know what we were doing
and took the above to let her know we had left home
for our little vacation.
When the girls were little - we always used to buy them
these Magic Pen books for road trips.
Another Courtney update!
We spend lots of time at our St. George condo
and usually we find the parking lot empty
but upon arrival this week - this is what we found!
Other cars! What??
Then we found out that the reason so many people were
in OUR town was that the St. George Ironman was happening!
One of the first things we did was head to Mad Pita for our favorites!
And it never disappoints!

We decided to try new hikes this trip.
The 1st one was Gunlock Falls.
The water was not high enough for any falls
but it was beautiful anyway.
The colors in the desert this time of year are so beautiful!

Another new thing we tried this trip was Swig!
We have been hearing about it for years
but the line is always so long!
I couldn't figure out how this tree can live
surrounded by asphalt!
We braved the line and got a smoothie and some sugar cookies.
And they were very good!

Our 2nd new hike was to
The trip out there was kind of horrific
but it was all worth it.
I loved these fruit things on the cactus.
And the colors in the rock.
And of course the petroglyphs!
There was this frightening rock
that looked like a bunch of piled up skulls!
And some strange dam - I'll have to research that!
The desert is a beautiful place.
More of the colors.
Sunset.

Our 3rd hike was Red Cliffs.
At the beginning of the hike there was this dead tree
that looked like an elephant.
Second picture of me in one blog post!
Waterfall and pools.
Mark
The water was great!

Then we took a break from hiking and relaxed
at the pool!
And then it was over for another couple of months!

I love clouds and the heavens put on a show for me on the way home!
While it is always good to be home . . .
I can't wait to go back!

Life Lately

 One of my favorite things:
peas fresh from the garden
So in March I planted some!
And am happy to report that they are doing wonderfully!
While I planted peas Mark pruned apple trees.
Then we rented a wood chipper
and tried to forget we ever saw the movie Fargo.
Courtney helped make crepes (with Joseph and Emma looking on) for our
monthly birthday party at work.

Strawberry crepes and chocolate chip scones! Yummy!
We spent a little time in Provo
 with these fun people!
I went to a meeting in the Granite Tabernacle
and fell in love with the building!
We attended the wedding of Kylie and Perry!
It was a great party!
And so good to see so many of Paige's friends from Chirons.
Side note:
A couple of weeks ago I went to Corner Bakery
to get my all time favorite cookie -
Only to be told they were not making them anymore!
So Sunday I made my own.
Take two chocolate (cake) cookies.
Put peanut butter goodness in between.
 Et Voila!
Thanks The Pursuit of Happiness for the recipe!
They were/are spectacular!
And last but not least
Spring has sprung!

Yay!!!

Confession

Hi, my name is Lisa and I am an iceaholic!

Seriously, my Mom calls me "the ice queen"
and Mark always tells her that is not a complement!

Oh and I am not even trying to quit . . . I mean, it could be worse - right?

So for all you fellow iceaholics out there I thought I'd do a list of the best places to get your fix:

10 - Linda's fridge - I usually hate fridge made ice - but Linda's is an exception.
9 - The grocery store in Farmington where my nephew Tanner used to work,
sadly I do not know the name. I do now thanks to Mackenzie!! Bowman's Market in Kaysville!
it is great ice but it gets #8 because they are 4 hours away.
7 - Pizza Factory in St. George - well really all of
St. George knows their ice and have the good stuff!
6 - IKEA - so good that today I sneaked a cup in my purse while I shopped
just so I could fill it up before I left.
5 - Sonic - this is one of the best - and they sell it by the bag!
4 - Harmons - free cups full!!! Maybe that is why I shop there even if they are overpriced!
3 - VRx Parmacy - just a short walk from work and worth every step.
2 - Church Administration Building -good it is 2nd since it is where I work!!!
1 - Hires and Litza's - some go there for a Big H or the fries - I go there for the ICE!

I know this is a big confession to make but I am sure there are other
people out there like me
that can't get started in the morning until they have their
cup of ice!!!
